In residential properties we mainly use Open Cell Spray Foam Insulation which is a breathable product. One of our surveyors will call out to assess your property and to offer advice on your insulation and ventilation requirements.
This product is ideal for use in new build properties as it gives the required U values for current building regulations and achieves an air tight seal. The versatility of spray foam is that it can be applied to very complex roof details to ensure full coverage and U values are constant throughout.
In preparation for spraying we fit a vent card between the rafters. The purpose of the vent card is to create a gap between the felt and the foam which maintains a continuous airflow and allows the roof to breath. Once fitted, the foam is applied to the vent card to the required depth. The foam can be shaved flush to the rafter or joist which allows plasterboard slabs to be fitted if required.
Some examples of its uses are listed below.
