Timber frame buildings are warm and energy efficient buildings when insulated correctly.
Cooper Insulation supply a wide range of products and services that can be used on both new and existing timber framed buildings.
While it is straight forward to insulate a new build, existing buildings are a little more difficult. We offer a complete package on existing buildings from basic attic top ups to stripping, re-insulating and replastering non accessible areas. More detail regarding the specification of high density fibre insulation, can be found in the Technical Library.
Floors
Suspended timber floors in existing buildings can be upgraded, and new builds can be provided for with a variety of insulation methods such as high density insulation, flexible insulation and eco insulation.
When retrofitting the most common method to upgrade your floor is to remove the existing floor covering and boards, installation of a breathable membrane around and to the bottom of the joists, installation of a mineral wool between the joists – such as Rockwool which is breathable, fireproof and has excellent insulating properties – installation of an airtight vapour control membrane above the floor area and reinstatement of the floorboards.
