There are two types of polyurethane foam applications Open Cell Spray Foam and Closed Cell Spray Foam

Open Cell Spray Foam Insulation

borescopeCooper Insulation fit a breathable ventilation card which is fitted prior to application to allow a continuous air flow and allow the attic to breath. Once fitted, the foam is applied onto the vent card to the desired depth.

The foam can be shaved flush to a rafter or joist which allows slabs to be fitted if required. CPI foam with vent card installed is NSAI approved.

Beware of other companies that recommend spraying directly on to felt as this is not complying with the regulations and will not be NSAI approved for this reason.

Closed Cell Spray Foam Insulation

Closed cell foam is generally used for industrial, agricultural and commercial buildings as it has a hard skin seal on the outside which provides a seal to the designated area. Open cell foam is a breathable product that is generally used for residential properties in spraying attic, floors and roof spaces.

Both open and closed cell foam is supplied by CPI foam which is one of the leading suppliers of spray foam in Ireland.
