External Wall Insulation (EWI) is a cladding system comprised of suitable insulation and waterproof coating which is applied to all the external walls of a building. The application of EWI is designed to retain the heat in a building.
This method of insulation is usually preferred in cases where the construction of the building is hollow blocks, solid walls with no cavity or stone finished properties. External insulation is also recommended for new builds as it has high insulation values and in both retrofit and new builds it has proved to be a huge success.

The external perimeter of the house is externally insulated using a high density board, 100mm or greater, which is mechanically fixed onto the exterior wall. A base coat render is applied onto the insulation which is bonded with a reinforced mesh which will strengthen the wall. Following the application of two more layers of coating, the wall is ready for finish coat.
The homeowner has many different finishes and colours to choose from. This gives a freshness and new look to a house with along with a suppliers guarantee of works when the work is complete.
As this is a more expensive method of insulating your home, grants up to €3800 are available to the homeowner. See our grants page to see which grant is available to you today. You will be asked for our SEAI contractor ID number which is 10192.
We have a large portfolio of works to chose from as examples, feel free to contact us if you would like a quotation or would like to view an externally insulated house in your area.
