Attic Insulation

It is estimated that 25% of heat loss is through the attic or roof space itself, therefore it is of utmost importance to ensure your attic is insulated correctly to keep heat from escaping.

When insulating the attic, Cooper Insulation lag all pipework and tanks in the attic. A safe access walkway is installed from the attic hatch door to the tanks and the trap door is sealed to prevent draughts from entering the living areas of the house.


Fibreglass Attic Insulation

If you haven’t had your attic insulated in the last 5 years there is a strong possibility the attic is not up to current standards. The minimum requirement is 300mm or 12 inches of fibreglass on a ceiling space.

This depth should not be compromised in any way by being squashed or removed to accommodate attic storage. The depth of the insulation combined with the quality of the product will determine how well your house will retain heat.

Fibreglass should be rolled in two layers, first between joists then the opposite direction over joists to avoid any heat escaping.


Spray foam Attic Insulation:

Spray foam insulation is a common way of insulating an attic space and the homeowner will benefit hugely from its lower conductivity value and its tight seal on the roof of the home.

It is the ideal way of insulating an attic where a homeowner has limited space in attic and needs to use attic space for storage or living needs. Usually with the aid of a small insulated slab, all current regulations can be met.


Dormer Attic Insulation:

We have several options available for existing dormer houses. A common problem with dormer houses is draughts and cold entering bedrooms from the dormer doors. This can be resolved by stripping the existing plaster board and either.

  1. Spraying Foam between rafters from the top of the cavity wall, all the way up to the peakor
  2. Insulating the same space with a high density insulation.

We will then re fit a small insulated slab on the slopes resulting in a huge transformation to your home. Cooper Insulation will remove all waste, fit insulation, slab and skim and re fit any fixtures and fittings leaving the house ready for painting if necessary.


Eco Friendly Attic Insulation

Cellulose and Sheepwool are commonly required as an eco friendly alternative. We specialise in fitting both products. Both are fitted on flat ceiling spaces.
